Bathtime!

Melvin got his weekly bath, today. He's such a good boy when it comes to bathing. He sits very still and just lets the water fall on him.

As long as the water isn't cold, he usually enjoys his bath. He'll purr and headbump my hand, even. I think his kitty senses are broken.

From time to time he'll stretch a hand out. That's about the extent of his "escape" methods. Either he's just terribly lazy, or he actually does enjoy his baths. Although, he never really comes running for them, so I'm still unsure.

When he finishes up and gets all dried off (I don't blowdry him because 1. I don't have a blowdryer and 2. He'd probably have a seizure or something) Melvin is all curly. His fur is far from floofy. He's actually rather... Mangy looking. Kind of like some sort of sewer creature. Thankfully he dries off and goes back to his fluffy little self.

If you don't believe Melvin's extreme patience with bathtime (I'm there and it's hard for ME to believe), I made a nice "instructional" video with a catchy little song for all of you to enjoy. I apologize at the extreme shakiness. It's rather hard bathing a kitten and taping at the same time.

Wow he is such a good boy for baths! I gave up on baths for my kitties unless absolutely necessary because they are so hard to wrangle (of course they are bigger). I love at the begining of the video when you are first getting him wet and he puts his front paws on the sink divider - like he knows it will be easier to get to his belly area if he helps out. And you are smart not to blow dry - I tried one time and have the lovely 1" scar on my chest to prove it was a bad idea.

What a very well-behaved little boy you are, Melvin! You're cute even soaking wet!

You are such a sweetie! I've only had to bathe Scarlett twice at home, and there were two times when she was a wee kitten at the shelter. She is not a happy camper anyway with her "tortitude" but bathtime is violent with her. So, she only gets it when it is necessary.

You are a very good boy and deserve lots of luvvin's and treats!

Mom used to give me baths when I was a baby. I was fine until it to the blow dryer. But, she had to use it because it was in the dead of winter when I came to live with her and it was cold!

Aw, Melvin is sooo cute! What a good bath boy, too. I've only bathed a few kitties and they were never as patient as this sweet love.

That is amazing. I have never had to bathe a kitty, but back when I had a dog - she hated it! I so enjoy your Melvin stories. He is such a sweetie.

My two cats only get baths when necessary now. After my boy cat almost dislocated a hip trying to get away, I just let them self-clean unless they're filthy.

Sammy doesn't like baths at all. Melvin is so patient. Such a darling!

How cute!

In regards to the "mangy" look...our Himilayan-mix cat looked that way for most of her kitten-hood. I occasionally remarked that she rather odd looking. She grew out of it after about a year. Melvin is still growing into himself.

Hi Melvin! We don't get baths! But this water thing totally fascinates me. I really like it when my Mom flushes her litter box. I MEOW really loud until she does it!

Boy, you sure look cosy wrapped up in your blankie!

Ok, 'bye!

How patient a kitty you are, Melvin! And I had a good laugh when you just let the water make a fountain over your ear.

I know you must have mentioned why Melvin gets a bath each week, but I forgot. Please remind me why he needs to be bathed so often! I gave a bath to Rosemary JOY last week and I don't think I'd want to do it every week☺
